Kellsie’s Hope was started by Kellsie Marchbanks during her second round of cancer treatment. After her passing in June 2011, the Marchbanks family formed Kellsie’s Hope Foundation Inc, to celebrate the life of this remarkable young woman and to continue the work she started from her hospital bed. Kellsie’s Hope Foundation Inc, mission is to lighten the load of families that have children suffering from cancer by offering support for trips, and gifts that might otherwise be unattainable to a child with cancer. Kellsie’s foundation is also dedicated to raising funds to support research into childhood cancers such as hers.

From Monday, October 6th to Friday, October 17th, each SHS student is challenged to fill their sock with money (coins or bills). Yellow socks will be provided. All money raised will go to Kellsie’s Hope from Signal Hill School.

The grade with the highest total dollar amount collected will be rewarded with a food item (pizza, ice cream, or doughnuts).

Each student is also challenged to decorate their sock. The top 3 most creative socks in the school will also win a special prize. Put a notecard with your name and class inside the sock so we know who to give credit to.

All socks are due to the student’s homeroom teacher by Friday, October 17th.

IN HONOR OF JOHN SCHMIDT

John was a Signal Hill Warrior who fought brain cancer for 4 years. After the cancer returned a second time, Kellsie’s Hope decided to grant him a wish. John could not decide between going on a Disney Cruise and going to Legoland in Florida - so Kellsie’s Hope sent him on both! John was able to go on an amazing vacation with his mom and make memories that will be cherished forever because of Kellsie’s Hope and their generosity. Please help us in giving back to this amazing organization to help other kids with cancer.
